Tagged

I was tagged by Jo in TAS http://scrapnstitch.blogspot.com/ to tell 7 random/weird/unusual things about me. I did this a while ago so I have to come up with 7 new ones. Lets see...

1-my eyes are blue around the edges, green in the middle and brown towards the pupil.
2-I married my DH on the 3 month anniversary of our first date
3-I have seen cadavers including the internal organs dissected by medical students.
4-I am allergic to the red dye they use in food and candy so (sad face here) no M&M's, Fruit Loops or Jello for me.
5-I read at an extremely fast rate, I read the last Harry Potter book in 7 hours and I read all the Elm Creek Quilts books(7 or 8 I think) in 2 1/2 days.
6-I don't eat foods that have a "weird" texture (taste doesn't factor in just texture) like avocado or cream of wheat.
7-I love to do crafts, needlework, quilting, crochet all of that but hand me knitting needles and I might as well be using my feet. I can cast them on but then can't get them back off the needle, I swear at it more than anything so I just don't do it.

So there you go. I think I have tagged everyone I know so if you read this and you haven't been tagged... your it!

Things are looking up!

DH's back was better enough that he went back to work today! I have one row of the wedding quilt done 5 more to go, I am using the quilt as you go method so once it is done it is done good thing too cause the wedding is April 11th. UGGG better hurry.
We all have dental cleaning today. SIGH I hate the dentist. He are good wishes that the kids are cavity free!
I need to stop playing here in blog land and get my butt back to the sewing machine. :O)
I am not sure why this cute little graphic has taken over my post?!????

What a fun day (NOT!!!)

I got to spend a lovely afternoon in the ER at our local hospital with every person that has malaria, the flu or tuberculosis. Mike's back went out to the point he couldn't stand so I foolishly thought that if we took him to the ER instead of the urgent care that they would find out why his back keeps going out. I could have saved myself $150 and just taken him to the local clinic cause they did the same thing, here are some muscle relaxants and some pain killers.
Damn doctors tell me what is wrong and how to fix it I don't want to be handed narcotics. Okay that has an up side the narcotics but still.
So no quilting got done again today! Damn Damn DAMN!!!!! Okay I feel better now. (damn, shit and hell are NOT swear words my grandma says them ;O)

Grandma is almost out and other fun things...

Well grandma sold her house and had to be finished moved out by tomorrow. I have been killing myself to get everything out and to her condo or the storage unit. SIGH! I hate being the only one "available" to take care of stuff like that. I left the garage to my uncle and the truck and trailer to my mom!! I am DONE!! I am not moving another box, going through another bag or papers, I am finished banging my head on the wall cause she can't throw out old peanut butter jars or newspapers from the 70's that she knows she saved for some reason. I am out of there!!!

On a just a joyful front Wade is barfing and has a fever of 102, Mike can't breath through his nose, his chest if full of crude and he has a fever of 101 and I have a tummy ache. GOODIE!

I wonder why I haven't gotten any quilting done? All I have to do on one is attach the rows together and the top is done. Dang it I want to wave my magic wand and have my house clean, my family well and lots of free quilting time.

Keep Dreaming! LOL!!!

Happy first day of Spring!

I hope everyone is enjoying the first day of Spring! We are celebrating by having a WHOLE bunch of rain here and snow in the mountains. BLECH!
It should be beautiful for egg rolling on Sunday and that is the important part! I have 5 sprouts coming up from my crocus and that makes me happy too.

On the quilting front I have 3 quilts in various stages of work, none of the tops any where near complete and I need to start another one, I need one done for Tue the 25Th, one for April 11Th one done for April 15Th and the other is just for me. Dang I better get off my blog and get my butt sewing :O)

Doing the Happy Dance!!!

I was VERY happy with the mailman today! He brought me the batiks I ordered from Quilt in A Day and the book I bought on E-bay! This is the second try on this book the first one was a mess the person I ordered it from was a nightmare! So glad to have this one. I can't wait until my EQ6 software comes so I can design an awesome quilt with my new batiks!

Lesson learned

I am doing these flowers for an older lady in my guild. She is a sweetie and she just is having a hard time seeing well enough to applique anymore. I have seen the the applique done with the fusible interfacing where you sew it on and then flip it and iron it on then stitch around, easy right. Well it would be if you didn't sew the interfacing on backward and cut it out.
Well I had cut everything out and and the kit she had was 3 years old so I couldn't get anymore fabric, I didn't have enough edge to sew on more interfacing and so now I am needle turning it. I should have just done that from the start its what I know. At this point I have almost nothing to turn under and I am having to fight it every step of the way.
I was frustrated and put it away but I need to give it back to her she has the rest of the blocks done. SIGH!!
So lesson for today when working on someone else's stuff do what you know.

Pin Cushions????

Carey over at http://blueberrylane.typepad.com/blueberrylane/ Wanted everyone to post a picture of their pin cushions, I thought about it and I don't own a pin cushion. I have a pin magnet and an Altoids tin.
So here they are maybe if I win one of the pincushion books I will have to make a few. :O)

Felt like spring today!

Okay its not me(I wish)! But I got a new bike for the first time since I was 12, my first bike with gears and breaks on the handlebars. My bike doesn't have a basket on the front it has a toddler seat on the back.
DH got one too we are both going to use them all Spring, Summer and Fall (we hope) I have been really good about sugar(okay a lot better than I was) and I have lost 7 lbs since the first of the year so I am hopeful that adding some biking will help that along.
Wish me luck!

My ironing board

Now you may think a picture of my ironing board is an odd thing. However I will explain, Libby at http://simplylibby.blogspot.com/ is having a little drawing and part of that was to post a photo of your ironing board. Its not very pretty and its old but it works. I plan one day to put a cute ironing board cover on it but in the mean time its the ugly old plaid it came with 13 years ago when I bought it. You can see I am starting on the Jr High quilt and have figured out the sizes for my 9 patch blocks now I just need to make a bunch then deside out to distribute the purple and yellow so it doesn't look like a giant bruise.

My first scrap quilt finished

It was a challenge to put fabrics that don't match together but I managed it. ;O) I think it turned out pretty good. I put flannel on the back and gave it to my friends son. I have enough scraps to make at least 2 more and I make new scraps all the time. ;O)

Earthquake!

So we had an earthquake that woke me this morning. It felt like my bed was rocking.
The center was about 170 miles SW of here in Wells, NV. My dad has an uncle with a ranch in Wells. I haven't heard from dad yet this morning. The Earthquake was originally reported as 6.3 now its is being reported as 6.0.
No one has been reported as being hurt other than a few scratches and scrapes from things falling. They do have some damage to the older part of town but the buildings where empty so that is a blessing as well.
The science types at the U of U say that this wont cause a big quake her along the Wasatch fault, But I am thinking I need to go buy more bottled water.
Prayers going out to all the folks in Wells.

I even suprised him, he had no idea I was working on it. :O) We have pretzels, peanuts, gummie bears, jelly beans, sushi, fries and hamburgers, chocolate chip cookies, hot peppers, mixed nuts, popcorn, ice cream cones and sugar daddys.

I have been tagged

Julie from http://scraphappyquilter.blogspot.com/ Tagged me to post 7 wierd or random facts

Here are the rules

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Here are your random/wierd facts

1)I met my DH before his mission (he was my best friends boyfriends room mates best friend)(did you follow that :O)) we never went on a date before he left, I didn't write or know he was back when he came throught the line I was checking grocerys at, he asked me out 4 days later and we got married 3 months to the day from that first date.

2) I have bagged a moose (okay I didn't exactly bag it the car I was asleep in did. That was a lovely week in the hospital.)

3) I have stayed in or had a procedure done at all of the hospitals between Ogden and SLC with the exception of Davis Regonal, LDS and Cottonwood. That sorta makes me sound accident prone doesn't it.

4) My hair has been every color or dye they make except green ( yes pink, purple and blue)

5) I am terrified of grasshoppers.

6)I picked my DD name from a horror movie years before I even got married.

7)I love Monty Python I know I am female and I am not supposed to but I do, maybe thats why I scored higher on the geek test than my DH. LOL!!!

Okay and just an extra fact to explain something here I have no idea how to rename a link, so I am going to post a name then a link to the blog.

Guess I am not the meanest..

I laughed out loud when I saw this article about the "Meanest mom on the planet"

After I finished laughing I got online with my online quilting friends and we desided this woman needs a quilt to show her we are on her side too. These are a small sample of the blocks I have recieved so far. I am excited to head up a project to do a random act of kindness.
I am also very grateful for my wonderful friends that have so kindly stepped up to help me make this quilt possable. I will keep you up to date.

Victor/Victoria... LOL!

I think you have been introduced to Trixie here. Well on Thursday we took her in to have her fixed and to get her shots. I went a head and gave them a check when I dropped her off so Mike could pick her up later if needs be. Well I went to pick her up at the assigned time and they are all we need you to write a new check. I was a little confused and wondered aloud as to why they needed a different check. Well it seems that it cost less to get a boy cat fixed than a girl.
Yes Trixie is not Trixie anymore, I have been calling her (him)Max, Mike is calling him Trixter.

If I try to call him(I still want to say her) Trixter then I come up with Trixie or I have to add The in front of it. I like changing his name totally its easier for me.

Other suggestions have been
RuePaul
Trix(like the rabbit that hocks cereal)
It
going back to Mikes original name of Surplus
I even thought of calling him Bill (but then I would want to be mean to him so that one is out)
Frank-n-furter thank you Rocky Horror
Rocky again Rocky Horror
I thought of Monty as in Monty Python (how many times where they in drag)

Poor gender confused cat.

snow picture of the day

Its hard to see in the pictures but these men are standing next to snow up past their knees on the roof of a local church. I just thought it was something else. This part of the roof is flat and I am sure they are worried it will collapse. Last week a woman here in town died when her carport collapsed on her from the weight of the snow. I guess I am grateful that we have a peaked roof, its no fun when I want to put up Christmas lights.

Too much snow!

I am so ready for spring! We are expecting another snow storm on Sunday the only reason we can even leave the dang house that it warms up to above freezing every day for a while so we have snow, ice, snow, ice. I am ready to see if the bulbs I planted grow, I want to see the pretty flowering cherry trees out front in bloom. Most of all I want to not have cold feet!

New hair

I will never have long hair.
This is a fact I have desided I just have to face. I love to try out new hair styles.
I am usally not a straight hair person, I am trying it out. I think it has to do with being a teen in the 80's I am used to big hair. I like ir so far. I think it needs to be a new color but I think I may just be to old for pink.

other stuff I am working on

This is my first attempt at a quilt using my scraps from other quilts to make a "scrappy" quilt. I am a little OCD so I had to manipulate the scraps so the black and white and the brights where on the same sides. :O) I will be putting yellow sashing with black cornerstones between each block. The hardest thing I have ever done is to put the scraps in a bag and make myself put what ever came out together. It totally freaks me out to put patterns together that don't "match" or colors I would NEVER put together. Its a growth experience. :O)
