Its been a busy few weeks...

Its my only excuse for being such a slacker posting to my blog.

I am almost healed from my tonsil adventure, As someone that has had more surgery than I care to count I do have to place this up there in the top 3 as one of the worst.
I am so behind not just her on my blog but I also have thank you cards to send, quilt blocks to make for swaps that will be ending soon, I need to pay bills and my toilets are dirty! SIGH!!!
Don't tell my grandma about the toilets she will want to come back to my house and clean them for me. She stayed for a week after my surgery and I thought her and DH were going to strangle each other, not to mention I have about a million stairs in my house and she is 87 I was sure she was going to drop dead one day walking up all the dang stairs, (hell I thought I was going to drop dead walking up the stairs and I'm not even 40 yet!)

So I wore myself out at Lagoon ( for those of you out of the state of Utah Lagoon is the one and only amusement park here in Utah, it has some pretty good roller coasters but its no 6 flags)
I think my poor DH thinks he is married to a 14 year old not been married 14 years LOL!!
I guess I better get my butt in gear and get those toilets clean before grandma finds out!

We are going to Lagoon and pretending we are 16 year olds dating. I plan to make out on the dracula castle ride and eat junk food and forget I have kids. WOOHOO!!

Update on my tonsils

So this is a diagram of a throat with large tonsils and extra soft palette. So what they did is cut a v shape out on either side of my uvula and took my tonsils out this should help with both the sleep issues and my ongoing strep throat fun. The soft palette part is much worse than the tonsils, also until that heals I keep getting things up my nose. BLECH! So far I am still living on fluids and pain killers. It is better today than yesterday so lets hope that trend continues.

I finally finished the Civil War blocks

I feel like I have been working on these blocks forever! They are part of a swap to make a sampler. I can't wait to see the rest of them. I am sure they will be better than mine. LOL!
I am almost ready to go to Long Beach so I am glad I got these done just in time. I still need a hair picture but by the time DH gets home to shoot a picture it's no longer cute. I will see if DD can get a good shot right after I do it in the moring.

I am grumpy

So mom went to the Dr today and they took the staples out. That is good, the dumb hospital didn't send the pathology report to my moms Dr so now we can't get it until Monday. That's why I am grumpy.

In another chapter of Carin's life is a circus, yesterday my sister had to go in for emergency surgery, she had the lap band put on in November and has done really well. she looks great. Well she is in the 1% of people that has the dang thing slip. She couldn't eat or drink so they had to go in and replace it.

So I am again sleep deprived, stressed about family and freaking out cause I have to fly alone in 5 days! 5 Days I haven't packed, I haven't gotten anything ready and I have to fly alone did I mention that. (I am not freaked or anything)

I still need DH to take a picture of my hair. soon! promise...

Mom's coming home

They are sending my mom home today at 5 she is doing well is able to walk slowly and in less pain. They wont have the lab results back until tomorrow or Monday. She will have 6 weeks of recovery at home unless she has to have chemo then it will be longer. She is in good spirits, if not a bit stoned from the pain meds.

I got my hair cut I will post a picture soon, the kids told me I look like a rock star. I hope that is good.
More later...

todays the day for mom

Today mom goes in for her cancer surgery. I am headed to the hospital now to make sure my grandma and my dad don't yell at each other. (I know I am the family referee I am going to have to get therapy one day) I will post an update later, they think this should do it they don't think that it has spread this will tell us. laters

UPDATE: Mom is out of surgery things went well they don't think anything has spread, the pathology will take 3 working days so we will know then.

Monday, July 14, 2008

I have been so lazy the last couple of days! I keep trying to get my butt in gear but just can't seem to find the energy to do it.
I am hopeful that after my tonsil surgery that I will have more energy. I keep hoping that something will do the trick, that the Dr will finally figure out what has sapped my energy and made me a giant slug. I am trying to get some quilt stuff that was due to a friend in DC last week done. I bought some pretty cottons to put together an Amish square in a square quilt to practice my hand quilting. I want to get that together before my surgery so I have something to do while I can't yell at the kids.
My 87 year old grandma keeps telling me she is coming up here for that week. I love this woman with all my heart but she makes me crazy and worse she makes DH crazy. If she comes and stays we will all be nuts. (the woman vacuums the front porch) Last time she was here just for a couple hours visit she used a whole bottle of bleach to clean my toilets cause she felt the toilet bowl cleaner I used wasn't good enough. SIGH!!
Well I am going to try to work on those blocks again, wish me luck.

Saturday= better day

Just a note to let everyone know the boys are doing better. Both of there fever broke, Wade-o is eating pretty well, Austin says his throat hurts to bad to eat but he is drinking and fairly active. I haven't come down with any symptoms so I am hopeful that I have dodged the bullet.
Its been hot and miserable today, in the 90's so Mike waited until 9 tonight to mow the lawn. He is still hot and exhausted.
I guess I need to find everything we need for church tomorrow, whoever came up with the idea of church at 9 am was twisted.

Oh and pop over to see Lyn at Blue bird quilts for her Christmas in July giveaway.

Blah Blah Blah

That's how I feel today. I have sick little boys (I took them to the doctor to find out that they have a virus and they can't do anything I love paying $40 to hear that I need to make sure they drink a lot and rest) They both have fevers around 102 so we are playing the ibuprofen/Tylenol every 3 hours game.
I just feel BLECK! I don't know if it cause I am tired, or if it's cause I am worried about mom, It could be that I am getting the bug myself, I know I need to get off my pitty pot and finish up a bunch of things I have that need to be done now if I could just convince myself to haul my fanny off the bed.

On a brighter note Kris sent me some YUMMY Sherbet fountains (the jumbo size, I have never seen those before)She is the sweetest!! I am doing my best to not eat them all and make myself sick :O)

Frustration!!!!!!

Okay so you know when your surgeon calls you at home on a Sunday evening its NOT good news.
When my doc called yesterday he was in Ohio, and his plane wouldn't be leaving that night SO he called to tell me to call the surgical center at 6 am (oh my heck 6 am who is awake at 6am ) to find out how much later my surgery would be.
WELL... Its going to be a lot later than even he thought it will be July 28th! Hello 3 more freakin' weeks! SIGH!!!!
The surgical center closes at 5 no exceptions sooooo they are going to be able to take the 3 kids they had scheduled but as one of the 3 adults I get to reschedule at the back of the list. BUMMER!!!
So I may snore on my trip to Long Beach but I am going.

This made my heart swell!

The picture was taken in 1918. It is 18,000 men preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge in Iowa.

I am sure a lot of those men had seen the Statue of Liberty as they entered this country. I think of what it meant to them and what it took in 1918 to take this picture. I am sure that about 30 to 40% of these men didn't return from the First World War and my heart fills and my eyes well.

I hate to see any ones son or daughter not come home(or grandfathers in this case) however I know that when the cause is just and right that it is a necessity. As we get closer to the 4th of July I am always very emotional and my patriotism overflows right out my eyes. I can't listen to the National Anthem without crying (I know I know I have always been a crier)

I want anyone who's son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister (you get the picture) is serving our country to know that I pray for them every night, I pray for there safety, I pray for there success, I pray that they will come home soon victorious. I think they are so brave and they have my gratitude and thankfulness. I want them to know that I know they are doing what is right and they are doing a fantastic job.

As we here in the US celebrate the founding of our country let us all remember that men, women and children through the years have laid down there lives so we can have this free country, that we are so blessed to have the freedoms we do and that without the sacrifice of those people we wouldn't have the prosperity we take for granted.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

(to my dear friends from other countries, This is a short break in my regularly scheduled insane rantings, we will return to my regular sad rantings about my life soon ;O) )

I am a slug today!

I have a ton of things to do and no desire to do them! I think its cause its 100 degrees today! Why does that always seem to happen here in Utah 3 weeks ago it was snowing, we have like no spring. I guess I should see if I can drag my slug self to the store so at least the kiddys have milk.

Tonsilliris and uterine cancer Oh my....

In the insanity that is my life more medical issues have arisen. I have to have my tonsils out on July 7Th and my mom was diagnosed yesterday with uterine cancer. They are scheduling surgery as soon as they can. Fun huh!
I am not sure why this is the way things work in my family why we seem to be in a constant state of crisis? I really don't understand what I am supposed to learn from this.
I am not worried about me the surgery is routine and I should be better in a week. With my mom its different to many variables, if its early she should only need a hysterectomy but they wont know until they get in there. They have known she has a growth on her adrenal gland for about a year but she isn't producing the hormones they think she should if it was something serious so they have waited. Now they are saying well if that is cancer then the uterus could be where it has metastasised to. If that is the case she is as good as dead.
I am praying my guts out!
My mom is only 62!
I will keep you up to date in the mean time I am going to keep myself busy stocking up on Popsicles and instant breakfast for the time I wont feel like eating. Maybe I will loose a couple pounds.(there has to be a bright side someplace)

I miss British candies!!!!

I used to have a place close (okay it was 60 miles) that I could get yummy British candy. It's GONE!!! I am heart broken! I love the Sherbert fountains, but my all time favorite was orange CLUB cookies(biscuits) I can find the Sherbert fountains online but not the CLUB cookies. UGGGG!
Do they no longer make them? That would be AWFUL!! I love orange and chocolate together. I used to get the licorice allsorts too. MMMMmmmm!
Okay I am just making myself sad here! Hey with gas as expensive maybe the shipping would be less than the gas HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I had a pretty good time at the PTSA convention. I now have all the info I need to find out exactly what the PTSA is spending my money lobbying for. ;O)
Spending those 2 days walking around the BYU campus and going to the classes TOTALLY wiped me out. I did get my own bed, but I still ended up sleeping all day Sunday and most of Monday.

We saw DAVE on Saturday! It was really cool to see him live and in person! We are need to become gazelles!!

Super secret spy mission

Well I leave in the dark of night to head into the belly of the PTSA beast. I am off to the convention.
I really do have to leave before the crack of dawn to drive to the strange place they call "Happy Valley" Through the evils of morning rush hour traffic. To be indoctrinated into the ways of PTSA and learn the secrets of sucking up to the teachers union and hosting a "stomp"
I get to sleep in a strange hotel with people I hardly know. I hope no one snores,
I hope I get my own bed! I hope we get good food, I hope I can stay awake!

I will have a full report on my super secret spy activitys when I return.

I realised that I may have to explain what a "stomp" is I don't know if its a Utah word or a US word but I know that not everyone that reads this is from the US and not always from Utah. A stop is just an after school dance. Just so you didn't feel out of the loop ;O)
