Well we made it, we are here in Maryland!
The flight wasn't as bad as I expected, we have a nice hotel and we seem to have a deal with some people for a place to rent! Anyone need a house in Utah? :O)

My youngest is being baptized

Today my sweet Wade will be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so proud of him for making this decision, he is a good kid (most of the time I don't want to kill him ) I am so glad we could do this before we go to Maryland while we are still here with our family and friends. Pulling out my hair

Today I realized I had another list of things to do, before today I really hadn't thought about the utility's so today is my spend the day on the phone setting up the shut off of all that crap!
It also popped into my head I should have the kids school addy and stuff written down. I am going to be bald if I have to listen to crappy hold music to often more.
I am still thrilled with the idea of this cross country adventure but its all coming fast!

Has been almost a year my goodness. Things are still crazy, I am still battling with fibromyalga on daily basis but I have found some medications, vitamins and massage that is helping some.
I have been preparing for a move that we didn't know when it would happen for the last year well it's now two weeks away HOLY CRAP! Maryland will never be the same once I have landed :)
Since I don't have nearly enough to do, I thought I would take up blogging in earnest again. so here I am posting, I also started a little food blog as well (why not really make sure I am insane)
It's also here on Blogger its called dump and stir I hope you enjoy it as well.

I went to the thrift store in search of Halloween costume parts and I walked past the purses, see this way cute bag it looks brand new and as I look I see a Kate Spade bar on the front of it. Let me tell you I almost knocked the old lady that was also looking at bags to grab it. I check the price $6.99 I almost died! So I am now the new owner of a beautiful Kate Spade purse. Yea me I love a deal!

Circle-y granny afgain

So I changed the colors from my trial granny squares, I thought the centers looked like daisies and so I added a cute baby pink. I have one more row I think then I am thinking of going around the outside edge but I am not sure.

So this is what I have been obsessing over the last week or so. I need to get on the quilt too cause that will take a while. I also found a pattern for a beautiful blessing dress to crochet as well we will see if I get that done too.

Why is a Charlie horse called a Charlie horse?

When I think of horses this is more the image that comes to mind, isn't that what you picture when some one says horse? So then why did someone start calling a muscle cramp a Charlie horse?

So being me I had to look it up (why is this such an important topic to me today you ask? Well let me tell you I have had one in the upper thigh/lower right butt cheek for 24 hours now so I have had a lot of time to think on it)
Anyway, Wikipedia (and you know anything found in Wikipedia is gospel right) says this:
The term may date back to American slang of the 1880s, possibly from the pitcher Charlie "Old Hoss" Radbourn who is said to have suffered from cramps.[8] Another story mentions a horse named Charley that used to work at Comiskey Park, the Chicago White Sox's baseball stadium. In those days, an old, retired horse was often called "Charlie."

How lame is that! I thought I should check with the medical profession to see if they had a better reason.I went to medicine.net thinking I would get a better idea NOPE! Here is what they say:
The term "charley horse" is generally believed to be American baseball slang. One story involves Charley (Old Hoss) Radbourn (1853-1897) who was rounding third base when he developed a cramp in his leg. As he limped home, a player asked, "What's the matter, Charley Hoss?" "My leg is tied up in knots." Charley replied. From then on, when a baseball player's leg cramped, he called it a charley horse.

Okay so maybe I need to take back my snarky remarks about Wikipedia, Nah!
so the treatment for a Charlie/Charley horse seems to be stretching it out. Well I have tried but since my Yoga Zen Master status has lapsed I find it difficult to get to the particular muscle. I am going to do some more stretches and walk up and down the stairs today to see if that will help. The stairs may kill me so if it does I will be sure to have my DH post my obituary here. It should read something to the effect of I was killed by a pain in the a$$.

Mine? I am going with my DD and her friend and her mom to see "Resident Evil" in 3D tonight (not sure I am thrilled with the movie but I am looking forward to the popcorn. yes I know I am not supposed to eat popcorn)
Then first thing tomorrow at the unholy hour for a Saturday of 8 am we have DS2's soccer (football?) game. He is 6 and tiny, they are all so cute out there.

Back from the ortho, he says Mr A has "good teeth" and we only have to have one pulled in an effort to stop an adult tooth from growing sideways. He said as long as that works he may need a retainer but not necessarily any braces. Can we say WOOHOO!!

The last Saturday morning is August is one of my favorite and most dreaded days, its the annual book sale at the library here.
My favorite because we always pick up enough books to keep me reading until at least Christmas as well as enough for my DD,DH and DS1 too. All for an amazing price
The hard back books are sold for 75 cents and the paperbacks for 50. So this year we got 26 hard backs and 60 paperback books for $35. I love to read so while almost 1/3 of those books are mine I will probably read them all at the latest by Christmas. My DD will have hers read before Halloween and she got more of them than I did. she is something else. :O)

Now why you are asking yourself is it your most dreaded day well a few reasons
*The sale opens at 10 but people start lining up to get in around 7 I think there maybe a few real diehards that are there earlier.
*Its held in the basement of the library so there are no windows no air conditioning, and approx. 250 in the room. can you say sweat?
*I have a bit, okay A LOT of crowd anxiety, This year I couldn't find my anxiety meds to take before we went I had a full blown anxiety attack today. For a while there I thought I was going to die.
*Ebay, what does Ebay have to do with why I dread the book sale well I will tell you people who resell books on Ebay come in force, they swarm the tables looking for popular authors, classics and new books donated for the sale. They will come over and take a whole box you are looking out right from under you. This year the library was much better about controlling them, they had more people working the sale, they wouldn't let people stockpile a bunch of books in a corner someplace and buy them later after they had cleaned out a whole table and they wouldn't let them use scanners to find what the going price was for a particular book.

Anyway as I said in the my title you must LOVE books to put yourself through the craziness of the book sale but if you do you can really clean up on stuff you want to read. I always tell myself I am never doing it again but you wait and see next August I will be back complaining that I can't breath and people are insane but I will also have another whole bookshelf of new books to read. :O)

So after 4 big ole glasses of barium on an empty stomach, then walking in circles for 45 minutes, at least a dozen x-rays to see the progress of the barium the final "special" x-ray on the tilt table took a big 15 seconds. I was told to drink, drink, drink because in addition to tasting like liquid chalk barium is also really good at making you constipated (WOO HOO)

Dude what a morning!

I am sore and my stomach is thoroughly unhappy but I am surviving and tomorrow is the first day of school for the boys so I will have the place to myself!

So after my trip to the doc last week he sent me for x-rays and blood work the blood work was good, the x-ray showed a loop of bowel is inflamed so today I got to go for an "upper endoscopy" I got to go in fasting SIGH! it was scheduled at 12:15 that was bad enough but then of course everything was late so by the time I got back for my 15 minute procedure and out and was able to eat it was 3 yes 3 PM grumble grumble!

Just a visual for you on the whole "Upper Endoscopy". Good news, no ulcers or anything nasty in my stomach.

Tomorrow the fun continues with an upper bowel x-ray with contrast, Yup I get to fast AGAIN, then drink barium (YUM) then I get to be put on a tilt table and a series of x-rays will show if the reason for the inflammation in the loop of bowel if because of a blockage. If not then we get to wait until I have another attack at which time I am no longer allowed to just take pain meds and tough it out I am sworn to go to the ER.
Oh found a picture of the tilt table, almost as fun as the state fair NOT!!!

This would be people using a neti pot

Why would I post this you ask yourself (you know that's what you are asking yourself right after you looked at the pictures and said is that person pouring water up one nostril to have it drain out the other EWWW!)

I post this because I have sinus gunk again, yes that's a technical term ;O) When my sweetie worked at a company that sold yoga equipment this was one of the non-yoga items they sold and every time I get sinus gunk my sweetie tells me I should try this.

So the input, comments, whatever I am looking for is this
*Have you ever used a neti pot? good experience? bad? to bizarre for words?
*Would you poor water up your nose to clean out your sinus?
*If you do decide to use a neti pot do you then need to have your chi adjusted (wait that's Chinese isn't it?)

Your input is always carefully considered before I do it my own way ;O)

I am off this morning to the gastrointestinologist yeah the stomach and intestine guy. I has surgery about 14 years ago and since then off and on I have had problems with scar tissue (adhesion's is what the doc calls them) hanging up bits of my intestines. I have been in the hospital because of it once. BIG FUN!
Anyway so it got better for a long time with only the occasional stabbing, the last few weeks it has gotten worse so hence the Dr. visit. I hope he doesn't want to do any really yucky tests. I will let you know.

My DD is going into the 10th grade(when they start to really count what you take and what your grades are)
She is moving to NUAMES the Northern Utah Acadamy for Math, Enginering and Science. She is my math genius and wants to be a vetrinarian so this is a great school for her. Next year she can have "concurent enrollment" while she goes to high school the classes she takes can give her college credit so she can be ahead when she graduates from high school. She is thrilled and I am too. She is all registered fees paid and schedule in hand and school starts on Monday.
Yup in a week I will be child free all day 5 days a week! I have big plans that involve going to the gym in the morning and getting some cleaning and quilting done(wish me luck LOL)

I have a special request for an 18th anniversary gift idea so here goes

18th- the traditional list just skips the one all together (dude! hello you have been married to this person for 18 years and they think it's okay to just skip it NO WAY!) the contemporary list has porcelain, chinaware, bone china or ceramics for this anniversary. Since I know this person I would say this really isn't far off from what should be given. I would add that it should be NICE stuff NOT a cup an saucer from the dollar store. Maybe its time for some nice royal Doulton

The seven year itch

Let's continue on our practical anniversary gift giving advise,

7th year- This is another one to give some serious thought to. I mean Marilyn Monroe could move in upstairs and then what would you do? I think that you need to remind your dear wife that you love her as much as when you honeymooned, so take her back to your honeymoon spot (no really its very romantic, unless you are me and then reliving your honeymoon would involve husbands with food poisoning NOT romantic, remind me to tell you the whole story one time)

8th- by this time all the nice stuff you got for your wedding is trashed so renovate a room for her, if its possible a room just for her maybe a nice sewing room or a dark room even a green house would be good. If you took the roto-tiller advice and she didn't use it to turn over the ground to make a shallow grave for you maybe its time for that gazebo.

9th- What we haven't had any jewelry for a while? It is SO time for more. Remember each time you need to get larger, nicer and more expensive items. It just wont work to get her a diamond and ruby pendant in the past then a cheesy turquoise ring from the Indian casino this time.

10- once again its a milestone anniversary, It looks like she is going to stick around so you better show her why she still likes you. A trip, a nice one is in order Hawaii, the Bahama's, a cruise. Be careful here you don't want to go to far and take a grand tour of Europe and Greece cause then what are you going to do when 15 rolls around and you have to top yourself. Think ahead man :O)

11,12,13 & 14- So by now you really should have learned to listen to the hints she drops starting about a month or two before you anniversary is coming up. Think what has she showed you in a magazine or catalog, told you a story about her friends romantic husband, pointed out in a store or on the telly. I know you can do it, you just have to reach into yourself and find that romantic bone you have. Maybe you don't even know its there but everyone has one some of us (mostly men ;O) ) choose not to use it very often.

15th- once again you should be marveling that she is still here even though you squeeze the toothpaste in the middle and put the tp on the roll wrong she still loves you and has devoted pretty close to half her life(cause we are all child brides who have children older than we are LOL) to you.
15 years demands a little blue box, yes save your pennies all year for this one and bite the bullet you lovely wife NEEDS to own something from Tiffany's.

16th- Yes dear I know you are waiting for me to tell you what you should go out and get but HA I say HA HA HA I am on to you, don't you know this is all a test? I am checking to see if you listen to me the rest of the year or pay attention when I say oooo I want one of whatever. You will be graded and your extracurricular activities for the next few months will be based on how you score on this test. In other words you score better if you score better on this test LOL ;O)

NO really, Stop giggling mister! I am still waiting for most of the stuff on this list so you better get busy!

Okay lets see we left off at 3 SOOOOO

4 year anniversary- A house! by now you should be married long enough that living in something rented is driving you nuts, you need your own space so yeah a house is a great gift.

5th - It is time for more jewelry, gemstones are a good choice at this point. rubies, emeralds, sapphires, opals, amethyst are all good choices.

6th- You have made it past the first real milestone in your marriage good for you! Buy your love something BIG for her favorite hobby, is she a scrapbooker buy her a nice SLR camera, does she quilt I think a new machine is in order, Maybe she likes to garden (UGG I can't imagine that but ok) buy her a roto-tiller (okay I am reaching with that one cause I have no idea what you would want if you gardened)Or maybe build her a gazebo to appreciate her garden from.

okay off to continue my running around but rest assured I wont leave you hanging on your gift buying I will be back.

Its Friday the 13th

Of August, that means it my 16th anniversary!

Having my anniversary on a Friday the 13th is special because we got married on a Friday the 13th!

So I looked it up to see what I was supposed to be getting for 16 years and I found that according to the anniversary by year list that 16 you should give and receive tormaline on the classic list and silver hollowware for the modern. OKAY dude I so had to go look up what they were talking about!
I found this is a tourmaline ring pretty huh, just $1850 (I don't think I will be finding this next to my dinner plate tonight)

So moving on to hollowware I found this "Hollowware is the opposite of flatware. Flatware are dishes that lay flat, like a flat plate. Hollowware is a dish or item that is not flat, like a bowl." Okay I am not sure who makes up these lists but I so do not want a silver plated gravy boat for my anniversary!

So I am going to start making my own list

1st- nookie(other terms you may find this gift under would be the horizontal mambo, bedroom push ups, and the really classy among us may say getting lucky) Lets face it when you have only been married a year you are broke an you are still madly in love(you haven't yet realized that the "cute" things he does aren't going to be cute in another couple years) so what better gift.

2nd- jewelry lets face it she stuck with you for 2 years it is SO time for you to be coming up with something shiny to keep her attention.

3rd- Night away at a B&B by now you probably have a kid or at least a dog or cat so you NEED a time away when someone else makes you apple and cream cheese stuffed french toast and makes the bed for you!

Okay I need to think on some more so I will continue the anniversary gift giving guide later.

is a good car it has one issue however that makes me crazy (not a long way to go I know)
It has this knobbie thingy that adjusts the lumbar support on the drivers seat that breaks off every time it gets used. Soooo I get to sit at the dealer here while they fix it. AGAIN!
I told them that this is it if it breaks again they are replacing my seat! I don't know that changing seats will fix the issue but I do know it made me feel better to stomp my feet and demand things :O)
Hopefully I wont be sitting here all day, at least the have wifi!

Whoa time flys!!!!

Okay I have done it again just disappeared into my own little world and left everyone hanging.
SORRY!
I wanted to let you all know I am alive and FINALLY feeling better, it has taken a while and many doctors to find the answers to what was going on with me.

I do have Fibromyalga and Chronic Fatigue, I have found in addition or as a contributing factor my hormones are all whacked (yes that is a technical term :OP) With something called Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which has very little to do with ovaries and more to do with my pancreas.
I am now on several pills that I am slowly getting off and on vitamins and natural hormone replacements to bring my hormone levels to where they belong.

No update on me would be complete with out wishing myself a happy birthday

I have missed you all so much and I promise I will do my best to get here on a regular basis to keep you up to date, heck I am feeling better enough to try to get some quilting done,

Number 5 gifts under the tree to squeeze, shake and smell to guess what they are

Number 4 yummy food at a party almost every weekend

Number 3 National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Number 2 the spirit of giving I see everywhere, people who look like I should be giving them money for food are giving to the change they have to the bell ringers.

and finally Number 1 I love the Christmas season because it reminds me every day of the month what a wonderful gift our Savior Jesus Christ did for us by coming here, gaining a body and finally atoning for our sins by dying for us.

I hope that everyone is having a blessed Christmas.
(also for my Jewish friends I hope your Hanukkah was wonderful!)

Santa had to make an early delivery

So Santa is bringing the kids sleds and being that Santa is a very logical kinda guy he was also bringing them new hats, gloves and in DD's case a new coat. WELLLLL this morning it is -3 degrees Fahrenheit(-19 to the Celsius people out there) SOOOO Santa felt it would be in the kids best interest to have said items now.
To that end he was dragged out of bed early to find where he had hidden the gifts the kids needed (by my sweet hubby who goes to work before dawn and didn't know where I, I mean Santa had the gloves and things)
I hope those of you in the Mid-West where I hear it is even colder stay warm (sending warm thoughts your way) and those of you down under don't melt as I am informed it has been in the mid 40's (that's well over 100 degrees for us state side)
Everyone be safe and enjoy yourselves getting ready for Chritmas, Hanukkah or what ever Holiday you celebrate this time of year!

Why do people forget how to drive in the snow? I swear it snows every year for at least 3 months if not more. Do you fill up that section of your memory with who is on American Idol or what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jole are going to name the next kid the have?
Why is it that the second it snows people either drive way to fast or way to slow? It took my DH 3 hours and 15 minutes to drive what usually takes about 50 minutes yesterday because of accidents and people afraid of the snow. SIGH!

How hot is it down under right now? I may need to look into moving LOL!

Wow what a crazy couple of weeks!
Some updates...

Mom got her results her tumor was benign (THANK YOU LORD!)
I sent my SSCS package half way around the world about a week ago so soon I can post pictures of my projects.

I received my SSCS gifts and have been a good girl and placed them under the tree, the ornament is adorable

Well when not taking care or mom or my cute nephew that she is the chief babysitter and has had trouble because of the surgery (so I got to play baby for a while then give him back, I think I like that even better than having my own ;O) )

I have managed to get about 4 Christmas presents shopped for and then had to return 2 of them SIGH!

We got our tree up, with the sectional pre-lit tree it almost feels like cheating it was so easy.
It's totally cold enough to be December (it was 8 degrees this morning UGG!) but still no snow that has stuck around. I think I am glad of that LOL!

Thank you for all your well wishes for my mom and I am sorry I wasn't able to respond to everyone.

Just remember I am exceedingly grateful for each and everyone of you!

Just a quick post

Sorry I wanted to let you all know I hadn't dropped dead or fallen of the face of the earth, my mom had to have surgery to remove one of her adrenal glands on Monday because they found that she had a tumor larger than the gland.
She came through well and is just mostly sore. We are still waiting on the lab reports but they don't think it is cancer.
For my sweet winners I am doubly sorry your prizes just went in today's mail. With the Thanksgiving holiday it may slow them down even further. I have just been trying to take care of mom and haven't had a spare minute until now.

See how happy I am to be away and playing at Gardner Village,

This is how we started the day on Saturday, it was about 45 degrees and sunny.

5 MINUTES LATER...

SNOW!

Who ordered the snow on MY weekend! It's all good, we finished up shopping quickly and got some lovely food and played in the hot tub at the hotel instead.

In all we had a great couple days and not having to scream "If you touch your brother again..." once during dinner left me much more sane.

Need to clarify...

I wanted to clarify that while I have pictures I have taken of Weber canyon here by my house this is not one of them. Mine are currently hiding on the hard drive to our old laptop that went to laptop heaven.
This is one I found on a HOA website called Aspen Acres they have cabins in the cayon.

I am off for my child free, weekend. I plan to relax and not even check my blog LOL! So when I get home on Sunday I will have my my drawings for my blogversary!

Today is Veterans Day here in the US, I want to thank all veterans!

Thank you to my grandfathers one who was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed that started WWII for us and one who worked stateside to build the atomic bomb that ended it.

I want to thank my father who left to serve in an unpopular war when so many his age didn't or wouldn't

I want to thank my Uncle for serving in the war in Korea that is all but forgotten.

I want to thank my cousin who joined the Navy to see the world and saw the Aleutian Islands instead.

I want to thank the men and women at Ft Hood who had no idea that they could be the victims of a terrorist attack while on base in Texas.

I want to thank all the young men and women who have chosen to serve even when we are in the midst of the war on terror.

The good, the bad and the ugly...

This is the good, I won a drawing from Kelly @ I have a notion Her blog is wonderful if you haven't been there, she has a shop and she always explains why I need the wonderful things she is getting in for her shop :O) Stop by and buy cause Kelly is awesome lol!

The bad (I searched my whole computer for a pic of my grandma but she HATED to have her picture taken) I spent the better part of the day Saturday finishing the clean out of my grandma's condo so it can go on the market. Not only physically exhausting but emotionally as well.

As for the ugly you will be glad no pictures of this one ;O) I woke up yesterday barfing up my toenails! I spent yesterday working up to diet coke and toast. I am feeling somewhat better today. I will keep you posted.

So last night I did some time travel
(no it has nothing to do with stupid daylight savings time)
I spend an hour or two going back and reading my blog from the last four years.
I found that when I started my blog I had a 1 year old, a 7 year old and an 11 year old. I still worked at the IRS and we were still making 2 house payments. In the course if those four years I have lost 35 pounds, gained 20 back and lost 17 of the 20 again, I have lost my tonsils, a length of tendon in my big toe, a bunch of bone in my nose and the hole in my heart.

I went through the pain of my grandmother getting sick and passing away all over again, I had the joy of seeing my kids grow and change. I found that I was much more insightful then (at least it seems that way), I read as I started this journey from "gosh I feel crudy all the time" to a final diagnoses of CFS.

I started this blog as an avid scrapbooker with a handful of close friends have become and a rabid quilter with friends all over the world.

Thank you for letting me share my ups and downs, my rants and my rambling, thank you for being there for me when I needed an ear and a shoulder (even a virtual shoulder has helped so much)
You have lifted me up in your prayers and I have found many reasons to thank the Lord for you and to ask for things on your behalf.

NOW on to the part you are really reading this about...

15 days until my 4 year blogoversary!
I can't believe it has been that long. I started blogging as a way to have someplace to vent my rambling and sorta keep a journal of what was going on in my life.
WOW! I had no idea that I would "meet" so many wonderful people all over the world. 4 years ago I would have never started a sentence saying "My friend in Australia or My friend in Wales..." Now I think nothing of that.

So I want to do something big for the 4 year mark a giveaway X4 or to the 4th power or something. I am still working on the details

Halloween Fingers anyone?

As a fun Halloween party treat I made peanut butter fudge fingers.

recipe to make your own:
1 C peanut butter smooth
1 C butter cut into chunks
1 lb powder sugar
1 t vanilla

Melt PB and butter together in a microwave for about 90 seconds to 2 minutes then stir, microwave another 60 to 90 seconds. add vanilla and powder sugar and stir with a wooden spoon.

At this point if you just want peanut butter fudge press it into a 8x8 or 9x9 pan that has been greased with butter.
To make the fingers take a stick pretzel and form the fudge into a finger shape around it, add a sliced almond for the nail and use a tooth pick to make the knuckle creases, add a little raspberry jam to the ends for the bloody bit and throw on a spider ring for fun.
Let set up in the fridge for at least an hour.

Let me explain, Greg over at Flat out quilting was horrified that I would steal the bottle caps from my kids Halloween candy. So he offered to send me some. Who knew he suffered from the same inability to do things in a small way the same as me? I have enough Bottle Caps to put me in a sugar coma for a year WOO HOO!

My oldest UFO/inhereted UFO

This quilt (sorry the picture is so small I had to use my cell phone)was the only quilt I ever worked on with my grandma, we got it tied but she never got it bound. It was in her basement for over 25 years.
When she passed away I rescued it from going in the trash by my Uncle. Yesterday I trimmed it and bound it, then washed it really good cause it stank like basement.

This is a typical grandma project, she had grand ideas and started things but had a hard time finishing them. When we started this quilt the idea was to make on for all her grand kids I think there were 6 of us at the time (my sister came later)so maybe it was even longer than 25 years it was in the basement. Anyway she got this pattern and loved that you could make a star by using 2 different colors of yarn on the gingham fabric. I guess I will be the only grand child with a quilt she worked on.

I often jokingly refer to my youngest son as the cat whisperer, for what ever the reason our cats will let him carry them around, "hug" them even get right in their face to chat with them. I never thought however the one of them would hold still while he "Gave it a hair cut"

This is Trixter (when we got him we were told he was a calico, there for female and we named him Trixie when we went to have "her" fixed they said well this will be cheaper cause she is a he hence the name Trixter)
Trixter wont let any of us(except Wade)cuddle him, hold him or even pet him if he isn't "In the mood" yet for what ever reason today while I was not watching the 5 year old monkey like a hawk, Mr Wade gave him a bit of a trim. SIGH!!!!

When I first came in the room I couldn't imagine what had been torn apart on the bed it wasn't until I inspected a bit closer that I realized that it was cat fur in piles on the bed.

Luckily he didn't shave anyplace to the skin or anything he just has some weird short patches here and there. That and somehow the dumb cat thinks this is all my fault. He wont let me any where near him, Wade he can still drag him around but I am on the list! Brother!

The gift that keeps on giving...

In true brotherly fashion sweet Wade who shares everything with his darling brother (hohohoho hahahahaha Rolling on the foor laughing!!! okay no really I have ahold of my self now I can tell you this with a straight face) has shared his flu.

The good news is Wade's fever broke this morning so he is on the down hill side of this and we managed with no complications from his asthma.
The bad news Austin just started with the fever last night, so we are looking at 3 to 5 more days of him being sick.

Since they share so well (snort) they are playing X-box, This means less humming of "da ta daa ta" and more of "no its my turn", or "Mom he is killing me on purpose" (here and I thought that's what the shooting games were about silly mom) At least Austin can answer the questions like "is the machine gun better at killing the zombies" or "can I add more engines to this"

My fondest wish and biggest hope is that Austin's fever breaks and he is clear to go to school by Monday so I can have my life back.

On the mom is sick front I still feel cruddy and weak, my fever is down too but not quite to normal I am hoping that means I am almost done too. I will post a picture later of the cute dragon wall hanging I made for the silent auction at Miranda's school to raise money to build the gym. (her school mascot is the dragon) for now I am going to lay back down.

Voluntarily quarantine Day 3

The native is getting restless after having watched all his cartoons 3 time, all the Star Wars movies and all the Indiana Jones movies. We have discussed why we can't make the dog pull our wagon around, why cats don't like to be carried like babies, why we have brown carpet and what happens to Lego's that get sucked into the vacuum.

The adult female shows signs of possible brain damage from forced viewing of "Johnny Test" and may require a trip with her husband to recover from being sick.

NOTE to any terrorists that may read this blog, it is cruel and inhumane and I am sure that some where in the Genevia Convention it is considered torture to make a woman watch Harrison Ford age before your eyes by watching from the first Star Wars to the latest Indiana Jones movie. I am sure that very stern measures will be taken if it is found this method is being used to extract information from people.

Upon review of my research I have found it is possible the reason Lions eat there young has nothing to do with territoriality or hunger but may be because the young are humming/singing a mixture of the theme songs to Star Wars and Indiana Jones incessantly. Perhaps I should contact Nation Geographic and see if they will fund an expedition into Africa for me to further study this phenomenon.

In all things are as well as can be expected, Little guy is doing well still fighting the fever but overall he is good, Mom seems to be suffering more but that is just cause I am old I think LOL!

Who knew...

All these years George Lucas was wrong, He and everyone else called this an ATAT now I find out from my 5 year old (and anyone who has a 5 year old will tell you they are never wrong about anything just ask them) that this is an ATET also I should have been cheering on Darth Vader because "he has cooler weapons"

As you can see we are having loads of fun in our self imposed quarantine, Yesterday morning little guy woke up with a fever of 104 (scary!) after rushing him to the doctor we are told that he does indeed have the H1N1 or Swine Flu. After a review of the symptoms we determined that I (who never has a fever for anything) that have been running a temp between 99 and 101 probably have it too. So we in everyone's best interest Little guy and I are in lock down until probably Monday. BIG FUN!

We always have the fun stuff going on here!

So for your info to help you stay healthy a few tips from my doc to me to you...
1 wash your hands often with lots of soap and hot water
2 this virus can live on a surface for 2 hours so use the wipes they have at the grocery store and wipe the cart before you use it.
3 don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth as much as possible.
4 if your sick stay home! You can spread this 24 hours before you show symptoms and up to 48 hours after the fever breaks and is gone.

the good news is while this spreads much easier than the normal flu it is 1/7th as deadly so if you are a normal healthy person and you get it you should really just feel mostly like you have a super nasty cold.

I hope you can all stay healthy and I made sure to spray this post with Lysol so you should be safe ;)

No not her the Snuggie!

This post could also be subtitled I know my husband loves me OR You know your a klutz when...
First some background, I am always cold! This is not an opinion but a statement of fact. I would not run the air conditioner in my house until it was over 80 if left to me.
Second I am cheap some may try to make it sound nice and say frugal but lets face it I am cheap.

Given that information you will understand why I have been torn about turning the heater on, see its cold first thing in the morning but by afternoon and into the evening its fine and then I am asleep. SOOOO I have been hesitant to fire up the heater and since we cut down a couple trees in our back yard this year I have just been starting a fire in our wood stove to take the chill off in the mornings.

Yesterday I managed to burn a pencil lead width line all the way across the back of my hand, a second degree burn at that. Was this the first time I burned myself lighting a fire heavens no as a matter of fact I usually make my sweet hubby do it cause again I am a klutz. (I have managed to catch my big toe in my pj bottoms and tripped UP the stairs almost breaking my nose! I am a worlds class klutz!)

Since my sweetie can't be here to babysit me and light fires for me all the time yesterday on the way home from work he stopped and bought me a Snuggie. I know that Jay Leno compares them to body bags and mocks them but it is warm and I have sleeves so I can wear it and blog. What more could I ask for.

Thank you my sweet! I shouldn't have to light a fire this morning and as Fall is rushing forward to Winter I should be firing up the heater soon, cheap or not.

Online Quilt Festival

This is my entry for the Online Quilt Festival over at Park City Girl's blog

This is one of the first quilts I made it was in 2003 I made it for my grandmother. She loved pansy's so that was my starting point, I found the lavender fabric in a box that belonged to my great-grandmother so I wanted to include it in my grandmothers quilt.

I used fusible to do the hearts and then hand blanket stitched around each one. I then pieced the squares with the hearts together and added the borders.

I machine quilted it in the ditch.

When my grandmother passed about this last year the quilt was returned to me. It sat on the foot of her bed when she made her bed every morning, She didn't want to use it because it might get dirty LOL!
I love this quilt just because it reminds me of her not because of any great technical achievement.

Kids are doing better...

The boys are almost back to 100% and DD is close to 80% better, that is fantastic.

However despite my new found love(okay it's more of an every winter fling we have) of Clorox and Lysol I have the scratchy throat and am starting with the nose ickys SIGH!

I have bleached all the linens, bathrooms and kitchen and have Lysol'd anything that held still for 3 seconds. I have given consideration to boiling the children just to be safe but decided it wasn't in anyone's best interest(I am sure the jail is just FULL of germs).

I am hoping my scratchy throat is all that I get and we will all be on the mend soon. Cross your fingers.

So back from the doc, DD's flu test came back negative which is good. The only thing is the test is only about 90% accurate so she may really have the flu.

The really good thing is that she seems to be dealing with it fine and he said there was no need for Tamaflu, I will however have 3 kids home from school until Monday!

So no one is going to drop dead and I am just going to be busy bleaching and Lysoling everything.

My DD's high school closed today at lunch because of an H1N1 outbreak(its pretty nasty looking isn't it)
She has been sick but it never occurred to me the she could have the "swine flu" turns out the girl she sits next to in 3 yes 3 of her classes was diagnosed with H1N1 and her mom sent her to school. What the crap was she thinking! DUDE!!!
So we have an appointment with the doc in a little over an hour to find out if that's whats up with my DD. I am told if it is we all get to go on Tamaflu(at a $30 copay per family member)
I will let you know. SIGH!

Linda asked me to help her test patterns for her new pattern line. I was honored and thrilled that she asked me. This is the first pattern I tested and I think it turned out beautiful if I do say so myself.

Yup that means Halloween is right around the corner. Halloween is my favorite holiday I love it more than Thanksgiving and Christmas combined(I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Halloween doesn't require a family get together lol!)

I love to dress up, I would have loved to be on stage or in the movies. I would love to be a professional extra. I know that sounds nuts but I want to be in the movies and get to play dress up and act but I don't want all the baggage that comes with being a "star" I want to have a normal life outside of "work" hence the idea of being a professional extra. I could be baglady number 3 in scene 4 or I could be mom at the grocery store on the cereal isle, maybe I could be woman in the park that says "Who are you".

I love Fall I think that's another reason for my love of Halloween. I love the change in the colors of the trees, I love that its cool enough to wear my sweaters but not cold. I love that I can have fires in my fireplace, I love to plan warm things for dinners again.

Of course I LOVE to have people over and make all kinds of yummy goodies, to go through the kids bags and say "oh you wont like the bottle caps I better take those off your hands" LOL!

So I say WELCOME October!

I have been buzy I just can't show you

So this isn't my vintage White but I have one very similar so I thought since I can't show you any of the stuff I am working on I would share with you something as fun.
Okay maybe not quite AS fun but its the best I can do.

I have been working on several super secret projects this week, I promise when I am able I will post pictures but in the mean time know that I haven't lost my way to the sewing machine, I am not lost under a growing pile of dirty laundry and I having given in to the urge to run away from home and live on a desert island some place.

I am hoping to work on something I can show you later today so maybe my next post will have actual pictures of actual things I am doing ;O)

Of Jury duty and meth labs!

So I got my summons for jury duty today, I get to report the first week of October. As far as I know there are no serial killer or terrorist coming up for trial so even if I get picked for a jury I should be able to come home each night. I will have to let you know.

Now on to meth labs, I was listening to the radio this morning and I heard about a fund raiser for Utah-detox.org It's a program for cops that have been exposed during the course of there duties to the chemicals in meth labs and are suffering ill health from it.
Its the same program used to help the people that cleaned up at ground zero. The I found that some of the cops that had taken part in this program so far are neighbors they are cops for the town to the South West of us and to the West of us. I am posting a link to a video produced about this that is on you tube its 6 minutes long but explains the program and talks to the participants. I think that I will be adding this to the charitable donations we make I hope you will too.

Hey you could even help start something for the police and firemen in your area unfortunately this isn't just a Utah problem, for that matter it's not even just a US problem. Sad but true!

I was aiming to post at 9:09 but I was running kids and walking dogs! Dang it.

Today was DD's first day of high school SIGH!!! I am so not ready for that. I thought I had another year, when I was in school 9th grade was still Jr High but the school she is attending has 9-12th in high school.
I guess I just need to finally face the idea that I am no longer in high school myself lol!

Springville Quilt Show

After much fighting with photobucket I think I have finally put together the slide show from this weekend's trip to see the quilt show in Springville(yes I know its a 2 hour drive to see quilts but it was a nice date with my sweetie)

I still somehow managed to get one in sideways and try as I might can't get it to fix so live with it LOL!
